Our Values

View Video

We are excited that you want to connect with “Life at Lake.” Our desire is to make it as easy as possible to find your way through the “bigness” of Lake to discover the smaller communities and ministries where you can become a partner with us in impacting the San Gabriel Valley and the world!

Are you a bit curious as to how that can happen? Well, please read on to find out more of who we are and how you might join in with us!

By the way, Lake Avenue Church is more than just a building or location on the corner. We describe ourselves in this way:

We are a community with a cause: Expanding God’s Kingdom by Becoming and Developing Wholehearted, Fully-engaged followers of Jesus Christ.

We’re on a MISSION to be MORE!

To make the discovery process easier, we have grouped some of the enriching and life-changing opportunities available at Lake into three areas of focus: 1.Connect with others, 2. Become a wholehearted follower of Jesus Christ, and 3. Impact our local and global world.

Connect

There are many ways newcomers can connect with the Lake family:

    • COFFEE CONNECTION

Join us on the plaza on the east side of the Worship Center each Sunday morning between 9-11 a.m. for some gourmet refreshments and great conversation. This is the place to meet and develop new relationships.

    • PATHWAYS SEMINAR

Beginning Sunday, October 3, the Pathways seminar will provide a consistent place where you can find a guide and a community of others who are looking for those places of connection. Starting the first Sunday of each month at 11 am in FL 201/202, a gifted team of LAC members and pastors will host a four week seminar to help you find your place at Lake. For more information visit http://www.lakeave.org/pathways.html.

    • WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY MEMBERSHIP SEMINAR

On a quarterly basis, we meet on a Saturday morning for a fast-paced, 3-hour interactive workshop with our Sr. Pastor and other staff. It is designed to help you “catch the vision” God has given to us for Lake and to give you an opportunity to become an active partner towards seeing it become a reality.

Become

Another important element of Life@Lake is growing in our relationship with Christ, or becoming a “wholehearted” follower of his. To encourage that happening, we have:

DISCOVERY I: Growing in Christ

This is a small group, 8 week interactive experience that focuses on the basic truths and principles of our relationship to Jesus Christ. You will study the Bible and share/discuss together the discoveries and questions uncovered. Everyone is welcome!

DISCOVERY II: Exploring the Bible

Here is an opportunity to explore the Old and New Testaments. You will read through the entire Bible over a two-year period and see your knowledge and understanding of God’s Word expand and your faith in God deepen beyond measure. There is lecture, small group discussion and lots of Q & A!

BAPTISMS

Baptism is an outward sign of a personal confession of Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior. LAC practices “believer’s baptism” by immersion and are usually celebrated during one of our weekend worship services. We offer a “baptism orientation” for anyone interested in being baptized that will help you understand what the Bible teaches and why it is so important.

Impact

As important as it is for us to “grow” and “become” as Christians, there needs to be a purpose for that happening in our lives. And, that brings us to how we can be engaged in impacting our world for Christ.

ALPHA a.k.a. “Dinner & a Movie”

The ALPHA Course is a place for you to explore the Christian faith in a friendly, relaxed setting over nine thought-provoking weekly gatherings. You start each evening with a delicious home-cooked dinner; then watch a “movie” featuring Nicky Gumbel, an outstanding speaker, present a relevant and compelling message; and, you end the evening in a time of small group interaction related to the topic at hand. ALPHA is an engaging, fun and life-changing experience you won’t want to miss! It is for EVERYONE that still has questions about the Christian faith! Come and bring a Friend!
