Student Ministries - Pastor Jeff Mattesich
Raised in Ventura, Jeff became a follower of Christ in Junior High while attending a summer camp at Forest Home Christian Conference Center. It was during his 10th grade year that Jeff really grew in his faith. That year Jeff received an injury while playing football that resulted in brain surgery and an ended athletic career. It was through his relationships at Community Presbyterian Church that Jeff was able to heal and seek out a new direction for his life aside from athletics. During a Missions Trip his senior year, Jeff first felt called to some sort of ministry.
This is copy of the prayer I prayed in this mornings services after a time of reflection on the events of September 11, 2001.
I am still processing yesterdays sermon on reconciliation
Do you ever have doubts about your faith? Do your kids?
On Sunday in High School we looked at John 20
, specifically at Thomas. As you may recall, shortly after the resurrection the disciples were avoiding the Jewish leaders (behind locked doors) when Jesus appears to them and has them “receive the Holy Spirit” (v. 22). The disciples were astatic and when they shared the news with their friend Thomas, we read about a very different reaction. THOMAS HAD DOUBTS. In fact, he declares that until his eyes see and his hands touch Jesus he WILL NOT believe that Jesus appeared to them. Thomas needed proof. Thomas had doubts. Thomas did not believe what his friends did.

One might think that the longer I pastor and the longer I walk with God, the less likely I am to make the same old mistakes.
