Up until now, your preschooler's world has been your home, your yard and maybe an occasional trip to grandma's house. Preschool is a big step for your child and we are committed to making it a comfortable, loving and positive experience.
The Lake Avenue Church Preschool offers a complete program for children age two through pre-kindergarten. Each class offers weekly curriculum featuring English (i.e. letters, phonics, vocabulary, stories), social studies (community awareness, holidays, historical people), science (animals, nature, weather, "why" questions), math (numbers, counting, grouping), Bible (Bible stories, verses) and fine arts (role playing, crafts, art, music) all presented in a fun and age appropriate way. We strive to give every child confidence and a firm foundation of skills and understanding upon which to build the next level of learning and development.
Preschool runs from September through June with class from 9 am to 12 noon. Snacks are provided each day. The classroom ratios are: 2-year-olds 1 to 8 (or 2 to 10), 3-year-olds 1 to 12 (or 2 to 16) and pre-kindergarten 1 to 12 (or 2 to 16).
Structured activity and learning times are short and varied, appropriate to the preschoolers age and attention span. Opportunities each day for unstructured play, free choice activities and self-help activities are provided within a loving, structured and well-supervised environment.
