Fifth grade? Fifth grade? That can’t be possible. Certainly ten whole years haven’t passed since the first time they hesitated outside the door of the nursery with their eldest child! Now she’s a preteen? How did this happen? The tentative feelings returned to the parents as their little girl entered the Preteen Ministry for the first time. But there were other feelings as well. Hope. Pride in their growing-up child. Her newfound desire for independence coupled with the familiar dependence that became especially evident during their bedtime talks about what tomorrow might hold.

The preteen years are a season marked by change; some of it scary, and much of it just plain fun! Preteen Ministry at Lake Avenue Church will be with your family through the highs and lows, providing support, prayer, and encouragement along the journey. We invite our fifth and sixth graders to discover who they are in Christ, along with a team of volunteers who are committed to see them follow hard after our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sunday mornings find us celebrating together through worship and participating in the Bible lesson. We spend time in small groups to discuss the lesson and explore how it impacts our lives.

As parents and children navigate this new paradigm and shape their growing relationship, our ministry desires to journey with your family.

    A night of fun for LAC preteens, their friends and family right here at LAC Ave. Tonight's theme will be string. What would you expect this night to look like? Let your imagination run free. We'll tell you later if your right or wrong.
  • Friday, Mar. 02
    All Day, 6 pm Feb 10 -> 10am Feb 11 Hutchins Hall Room 305 (Preteen Room)

    Preteens are invited to join us here at LAC for a themed all night event following JRR Tolkiens The Shire of Middle Earth.
    Shire
    From Hobbitvities such as indoor camping, eating, story telling, eating, fishing, eating, movies, eating, group activities and games that may involve food and worship.

    Parents are invited to join us for a family breakfast at 8 am and a time of worship the following morning. LAC staff would also like to invite any Large Hobbitty volunteers and parents that would like to help keep on eye on the Shire for an evening.

    Cost $25. Includes 2 meals and a few more in between, crafts, and activites.

Preteens may check themselves in; parents are welcome to join us.
