May is a busy time for us, with several school events and activities coming up such as the Scholastic Book Fair, Teachers' Appreciation Week, and Mother's Day Teas! The exact dates and schedules are outlined in the "Events" column.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!!! Calling all dads, uncles, and grandpas! We need all the volunteers we can get for our Mother's Day Tea events to help set-up, serve food & beverages, and clean-up after the event. There are less than 2 months left of the school year, and this is a great opportunity to get your volunteer hours done. Please see the volunteer opportunities below:

Upcoming Events the Week of May 6-10
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held on May 6th thru May 10th at Hutchins Hall room 105. During the week, each class will visit the Book Fair to preview books. Please do not send any money with your child. Parents must be present to purchase books. The sign-up sheet to help during the book fair is available in the school office (HH104).
TEACHERS' APPRECIATION WEEK IS MAY 6-10 Let us celebrate and honor our teachers for their lasting contributions they make in our lives! There is a sign-up sheet in the school office to bring bagels, fruit, cream cheese, yogurt, juice (i.e. orange, pineapple) and other breakfast items.
MOTHER'S DAY TEA This year, our Mother's Day Tea will be held on Thursday, May 9th and Friday, May 10th. Please see the schedule below:

MOTHER'S DAY TEA (Toddlers) Ms. Gina's class will be having their Mother's Day Tea on Friday, May 10th at 10:00 am in the toddler classroom (HH101). TTH students are welcome to attend for the duration of the event only.
MOTHER'S DAY TEA (Kindergarten) The Kindergarten class will be having their Mother's Day Tea on Wednesday, May 8th at 11:00 am in room MS300 in Maple Street Building.
Discovery Days 2013
There are only two months left of the 2012-2013 school year, and summer vacation is just around the corner. You are invited to enroll your child in this year's Discovery Days program. We have a lot of fun-filled learning activities that will enhance your child's development. Here are the details:
Registration started on Monday, April 15th.
Discovery Days is held Monday to Friday only. MWF and TTH programs are not offered.
Hours available: Part-time (9a-12p) withTLCare options or fulltime (7a-6p)
There are four sessions and each session is 2-weeks.
School Closures/Holidays: July 4, 2013 (Thur) - Independence Day July 29 - August 2 - Vacation Bible School (VBS)
*VBS is a separate 1-week program that is offered by Lake Avenue Church through the Early Childhool Ministry. You may contact them at 626.844.4753.
REGISTRATION (SEP2013-JUN2014) In order to secure a spot for your child to start for the next school year (Sep2013-Jun2014), please submit your application and registration fee as soon as possible. Spaces are filling up and enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. As a reminder, the school year begins in September and ends in June the following year. LACS does not follow a semester or quarter schedule.
As of today, we have the following spaces available:
PARENT VOLUNTEER SHEET Each time you volunteer at LACS, present the Parent Volunteer Sheet to the office staff to receive credit for the volunteered hours. It is the parent's responsibility to document and get approved for the hours worked. When you have completed the 10 hours, you must submit the Parent Volunteer Sheet in order to get reimbursed. Volunteer hours must be completed in-full before the last day of school (June 21, 2013), or the last day of your child's enrollment. There will be no reimbursement for partially completed hours, even if the student withdraws from the school in the middle of the year. Please allow at least 2-3 weeks for the refund check to be issued and mailed to the address we have on file. Again, if the hours are not completed in full, no refunds will be given. CONTACT INFORMATION If your contact information (i.e. address, phone number, email address) has changed, please notify us in writing so we can update your child's file.
