Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a one-week, half-day summer camp where kids learn more about the Bible and the unconditional love of Jesus. Through music, skits, games, stories and activities, kids will experience God in a whole new way. VBS is for kids age 3.5 (must be 3 years old but February 1, 2021) through kids entering 5th grade.

FAQs

We are so excited to get to invite your kids back to campus for VBS! We hope you are too. We understand that you may have a lot of questions about how VBS will work this year and our COVID-19 safety procedures. Here are a few frequently asked questions.

Will there be health checks?
Each day of VBS all kids and volunteers will be asked to complete a health check and temperatures will be taken upon arriving at VBS.

How will you maintain social distancing?
We will be operating at 50% or less of our usual capacity. That will give us space to distance kids. For example, where we typically have 40 kids in one activity, this year will have 20. Kids will be in groups of 8-10 and will not mixed with any other groups.

What about masks?
Kids and volunteers will be required to wear a mask at all times except while eating or drinking, which will only happen outside. Teachers may remove their mask when teaching and properly distanced.

Will the kids be indoors or outdoors?
Like usual, we will be both indoors and outdoors. We will be using the largest rooms we have and maintaining 50% or less capacity in those rooms. Kids will only be in the rooms about 20-25 minutes at a time.

Will there be snack?
Yes, we will have snacks but we will provide pre-packaged snacks rather than our fun DIY snacks. All snacks will take place outside with proper distancing. Kids may bring their own water bottles or we will provide a personal water bottle for them.

Will there be a waitlist if VBS fills up?
We will have a waitlist after each age group fills up. If the guidelines allow us to increase our numbers by VBS, and we feel we can safely accommodate more kids, we will add kids from the waitlist. Registration and waitlist will close on May 31. If your child does not get a spot at in-person VBS, you will still have the opportunity to participate in VBS@Home.

What is VBS@Home?
Our VBS@Home program will provide everything you need to offer VBS at your home for your kids or for a small group of kids in your circle or neighborhood. There will be a day to pick-up your supplies at Lake Avenue Church before VBS begins. Each day of VBS you will log onto to our YouTube channel - enjoy a live stream of the VBS opening program, then walk through all the fun activities in the day.

Will the VBS@Home content be available after VBS?
Yes! We will keep the YouTube channel up so you can either relive the fun or host your own VBS@Home at another time.
