Dear Visitor,

Do you remember when Pastor Milad Haddad and his wife Hodda from Lebanon came this past April and shared with us the amazing things that God is doing in their ministry? People are coming to faith in Jesus. Broken relationships between people groups are being bridged. Those displaced because of civil war are finding places of belonging. We were all thrilled as the Haddads shared with us the work of God’s Spirit which they have been witnessing. If you don’t remember or were not there you can watch it online.

Now – do you remember why the Haddads came to Lake? It was because we sent a team to Lebanon in November, 2017. Lake Avenue Church became a part of God’s work in Lebanon, giving witness to Jesus, and creating a play space for the community supported by the Haddads’ church. We were so blessed by our team and their stories of praise for what they had seen God do in and through them. If you missed, watch it online.

How did this blessing begin? It all started with Vacation Bible School 2017. Our vision to engage in this ministry in Lebanon began with the kids of VBS after they heard about the ministry opportunities available in Lebanon. Our children began to pray for Lebanon and to bring their offerings to send a team. That seed has now flourished into a beautiful work of God.

Some of the most fruit-bearing work of our church happens in our summer ministries. VBS is just one of them. We send many children and students to camp. Many are saved there. Lives are changed. We also offer summer opportunities ranging from Classic Car Nights to Organ Concerts to summer camps for children and students - all designed to draw people who may not ever come to church otherwise.

June has long been a month when our entire church family gives generously of its finances to fuel these essential ministries. As I write this letter, we are approximately $334,000 behind where we should be in our giving at this time. It’s a big number – but not if we all ask for God to show us how we should give to support these kinds of ministries. So, please give as generously as you can this June. Continue to watch your worship folders, visit www.lakeave.org and attend our upcoming worship services and events to discover all that God is doing among us.
