friday pastor's update
September 3, 2021

Dear ,

Pastor Jeff Mattesich brings our Friday update video this week as he looks ahead to our worship service this Sunday, gives some information about our Sunday morning schedule in the coming weeks, and shares a personal family update.

Pastor Jeff Mattesich

Watch Video

For the next six weeks through mid-October we are going to be extending our one 10 am Sunday morning service schedule we have experimented with over the summer. The Ministry Council wants to hear your thoughts and leadings on our worship service plans as part of our September “Year of Listening” together before we make a long-term decision. Stay up to date on this and other updates from the Ministry Council at https://www.lakeave.org/leadership

Our new LAC fiscal year began on September 1. While we are still processing the final financial data, it appears that our final giving will end up approximately $450K below expenses for the fiscal year that ended August 31. This shortfall will be covered by funding from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) the church has acquired, as explained at our summer congregational meeting. We are so grateful for all of the funds given to support the ministries of the church and will be communicating more soon about future budgeting plans.

Thank you to all those that attended our Annual Summer Congregational Meeting. The voting period has closed and the results are in. A total of 209 ballots were collected through electronic ballot, e-mail, or phone. The membership update was affirmed by 205 ballots. The FY21/22 Ministry Plan & Budget was affirmed by 183 ballots. The entire 2021 Elected Leadership slate was affirmed by 145 ballots. Please be in prayer for all of our elected leaders as they serve and lead the church in this new ministry year.

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 am indoors and online as we get to experience the joy of worship, celebration, and listening to a special message from Pastor Mathew John titled “Following the Cloud” out of the book of Numbers. You can also watch our service anytime on-demand afterward on YouTube and Facebook. Have a blessed Labor Day weekend.

SUNDAYS, NEW PARKING & COVID GUIDELINES

There are new parking restrictions on Maple Way (just west of our Main Parking Lot) that prohibit parking on Sundays (and other times of the week) without a permit.

Parking is available in our main West Parking Lot as well as in the parking structure at Gateway Plaza (300 N. Lake Ave., south of the freeway) along with Shuttle service from 8:30 am until 1 pm.

Both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals are still required to wear a mask when gathered in any indoor public setting. In consideration of local guidelines and those vulnerable in our congregation and community, please bring your face mask to the LAC campus and wear it indoors, except when eating or drinking.
