friday pastor's update
January 14, 2022

Dear ,

Welcome to our second Friday Update of 2022. Today, Pastor Mathew P. John invites you to join us on a three-part journey as we listen to three noteworthy speakers from January 16 through 30. Our series, entitled “True Stories: Encounters with Jesus in Everyday Life,” will feature special storytelling as well as three different voices with three unique perspectives, share three different stories from the scriptures! I think a pattern is emerging here!

Before Pastor Mathew shares about the next three Sundays and some additional news about Alpha and more, Pastor Scott White is going to share some information about our response to the recent uptick in Covid-19.

ABOUT OUR WINTER SERIES

“TRUE STORY: ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS IN EVERYDAY LIFE”
Have you ever felt Bible stories coming alive in your everyday life? Have you experienced faith becoming “real” in your immediate context? Our evangelism series “True Story” will pick up from our Fall 2021 series “Encounters with Jesus” and examine how similar encounters are possible in our own spiritual journey. We will explore the transformative nature of real-life encounters with Jesus by tracing the points of intersection between our stories and God’s story. We will also feature a storytelling time in the service each week to share vignettes of such encounters:

Jan. 16, 2022
“Three Stories and A Truth”
Philemon 1: 4-6
with Guest Speakers Jim and Karen Covell

Jan. 23, 2022
“A Three Day Story”
Hosea 6:1-3
with Beth Paz, Director of College & Young Adults

Jan. 30, 2022
“A Tale of Three Trees”
Genesis 2:9,15-17
with Mathew P. John, Pastor of Missional Outreach

THE PRACTICE
An Evening of Worship & Sharing

RESCHEDULED for Sunday, February 6, 6 pm • FL 300 (Warehouse)

We are hosting our first community-building worship night for all who serve, volunteer and/or lead at LAC (or who want to!). We will have worship, communion, and prayer and a lesson titled “Sharing our Stories.” This will help prepare us to live out our value of evangelism, which is a special focus in our January worship services. (Childcare will be available in the Middle School room during this time.) As our time ends, around 7:15 pm, you are welcome to stay and share and enjoy the company of other believers.

Please register by Monday, January 31 for childcare. Register today!
