friday pastor’s update
February 11, 2022

Dear ,

This week, Pastor Chuck Hunt shares a brief update on two important things going on in the Life at Lake. This Sunday we launch our new three-week sermon series from the book of Matthew titled "Understanding and Overcoming Temptation." Temptation is real and impacts our lives - often in the midst of transition or change. 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that “no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.” We tend to rely on our strengths to lead us. We tend to trust in our gifts to serve us. We tend to believe that if we can control and even out a little piece of the world - all will be well. Our tendencies are what get us into trouble - as believers and as a Church.

Temptation is so common that no person lives without experiencing it multiple times, even multiple times a day. So common is temptation that the triumph of Jesus over the temptations of Satan need to teach us and remind us that part of our discipleship is to shirk our tendencies and rely on God.

This sermon series is created to help us as individuals and as a church community to engage the disciplines that will enable us to let go of our tendencies in order to understand and overcome physical and spiritual temptation through the grace of Jesus.

Join us this Sunday at 9:30 am as Pastor Chuck kicks off the series with a message titled “Get Ready” - a great title to a great start.

Lastly, as part of our ongoing process to simplify and renew our bylaws, we have created two in-person opportunities to review and discuss questions you might have about the changes being proposed. As Pastor Chuck mentioned, there is one being held this Sunday immediately after the service in the Worship Center at 11 am. Additionally, if you cannot make it this Sunday, there will be a final Open House this Thursday, February 17, at 7 pm in FL 201-203 (Rose Room). For more information visit our website and search keyword: bylawrenew. To view the proposed bylaws with detailed explanations of the proposed changes, please visit https://www.lakeave.org/bylaws

For more information on Men's, Women's, Grandparenting, concert, and other ministry opportunities, see the ads below and visit https://www.lakeave.org/events

Join us this Sunday at 9:30 am! As always, you can stream our service on our homepage, Facebook, or YouTube, and anytime afterward. We hope to see you there. Have a blessed weekend.
