friday pastor’s update
May 27, 2022

Dear ,

As our country is trying to recover from the shock of yet another mass shooting, the cry of Solomon comes to mind, “For the lack of guidance, a nation falls.” (Proverbs 11:14) While we pause to pray for all those directly affected by this tragedy, it is also important to discern how the Spirit of God convicts our conscience. Our country needs spiritual leaders who can guide us with divine wisdom, and so does our church.

On Sunday, May 22, a Special Congregational Meeting was held to vote on a temporary Bylaw amendment related to how we identify leaders for our church family. 219 ballots were received from active members with 84% affirming the entire amendment. The steps in identifying church leaders for the coming ministry year will be carried out by the members of the 2021 Nominating Committee.

Please consider potential nominees for leadership positions and send your nominations to the committee at www.lakeave.org/nomcom by June 20. You may also pick up a blue form from the literature racks in the Worship Center Lobby and submit it in person or by mail to the church office.

Please see below for upcoming prayer, information, and leadership events.

Let us pray a generation of godly leaders will emerge in the new season of our ministry.

God bless you and yours.

Mathew P. John,
Senior Pastor
