LAC Families-
“What do you want me to do for you?” Mark 10
I cannot tell you the number of times I have asked that question to my daughter. There have been so many different occasions that I have wanted to do something for her or offer assistance. The days that I feel useful are the days that she can name her need and that I can meet it. The days I am useless are the days she can name her need and I cannot meet it. The days that are hard are the ones where she cannot name her need. If any of your kids were to answer that question, with few exceptions, we would try to meet that request. The desire would be there even if the resources were not. Jesus is continually asking that question to us. As parents our job is to pay attention to ourselves enough to be aware of what we need and ask God for what we need. Do you need more energy, patience, knowledge? Do you need a break, more time, a different approach? God wants to walk with you in that.
God wants to answer those questions for you so that you continue to create an environment of trust, opportunities for communication and a feeling of closeness within your family. If you are reading this and you don’t know what your kids need, go ask. If you are unsure of what you need, ask yourself, “What kind of parent do my kids need today?” Do you have what you need to accomplish that? IF you don’t, reach out to your community, to us here at LAC, or someone you trust for what you need.
Along those lines we are looking to make sure that we are doing all that we can to encourage your kid’s discipleship. Our goal is to make sure that they have a solid foundation of faith. In order to make that happen we are requesting information from some of you. Please look out for an email next week that will contain a survey. This survey will give us some necessary information as we look at what teaching and experiences your students need to connect them to Jesus and the church.
Lastly, we are putting on an in-person and online camp for our teens this Saturday. Here are some things you can be praying for:
- Prayer for safety.
- Prayer that kids feel well-connected, seen, and that they have the opportunity to build community.
- Prayer that kids encounter Christ deeply.
- Prayer for all the volunteers and parents that are contributing to making this event happen.
- Prayer that kids feel once again comfortable on campus and around their peers so the experience feels like they are at home.
Lenten blessings!!!
