  • Mark Cohen (54) passed away on May 10 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena CA. He is survived by his father Philip Cohen. He attended LAC 20 years. Mark volunteered with Assimilation Ministries, First Impressions and Greeters and the Coffee Connection Sunday mornings.
  • Cirila B. Loqui (97) passed away on April 27 at Glendale Adventist Hospital in Glendale CA. She is survived by Myrna Bautista, Franklin Loqui, Erik Bautista, Myrna Quezada, Jeffrey Bautista, Janina Bautista, and Hector Bautista, 2 children, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Cirila attended Comunidad de las Americas.

  • Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Bedig (95) passed away on March 20 at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale CA. She is survived by her Nephew Ralph Tufenkian and family. She was LAC member since 1997 and Voyagers Class.
  • Janice Bond (67) passed away on Jan. 15, 2012 at home in Pasadena CA. She is survived by her sons Akida Durham, Laquamie Bond, Devon Johnson and James Bond and one grandson, Akida Durham, Jr. She attended LAC since 1970 and Covenant Class.
  • Lawrence C. (Larry) Darwin (74) passed away on Feb. 17 at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia. He is survived by his wife Carol, an LAC member since 1999; and son, Richard (Rick) and Erin Darwin; daughter, Kristen and Chris Canavan; daughter Megan; and 5 grandchildren. He was an Alpha participant in 2010. Pastor Roger Bosch officiated at the service. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Lake Avenue Church Foundation.
  • Joan Haver (85) passed away Sunday, Feb 12, 2012 at home in Altadena ,CA. She is survived by her daughter Marianne Haver Hill and her husband Randall Hill, and grandchildren Austin and Aria Haver-Hill. Joan was a member of LAC since 2008 and was a member of the Morning Break Bible Study and King’s Couriers Adult Class.
  • Elizabeth M. (Betty) Woodward (92) passed away on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at Atherton Baptist Homes in Alhambra CA. She is survived by her 4 children and their spouses: Marion and Ken Shay, Ted and Omi Woodward, Edie and Randy Nelson, and Susan and John Bonilla and 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and her sister, Ellen Gillman. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lake Avenue Church. Betty & her husband David [deceased 8/23/2011] were LAC members since 1953 and members of the Mariners Adult Class.   • Robert E. Christianson (86) passed away on Jan. 21, 2012 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena CA. He is survived by his sons Mark and Robin Christianson. Bob was an LAC member since 1980; he served as an Usher and was a member of the Mariners Adult Class.

  • David Carver (84) passed away on Dec. 21, 2011 at home in Pasadena CA. David is survived by his wife Jackie, daughters Ruth [John]Pentecost, Sally [David] Ransdell and son Jim [Marian] Powell and 4 grandchildren. David was an LAC member since 1983; served with Evangelism and Assimilation Ministries; taught Discovery II Bible Class since 1985 and was a member of Voyagers Adult Class.   • Mozelle DeVaughn (82) died December 21, 2011 at home in Altadena. She is survived by her husband Herb, daughter Monique, son De Leon, brother Earl Jackson and her sister Doris Blue. Mozelle was an LAC member since 1971 and served in the Sanctuary Choir and was active in Voyagers Class and Morning Break Women’s Bible Study.   • Wilbur (Bill) O’Donovan (76) passed away on December 4 in Sebring, Florida. Bill and Esther are LAC International Staff who have served in Africa for over 40 years with SIM. A service of remembrance at LAC is scheduled for the Spring.
  • Daniel L. Dunkelberger (76) died Thurs. Oct. 27 at home. He is survived by his wife Rebecca and daughters Janelle McIvar, Joy Holman and Jill Williams, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. An LAC member since 1985 Dan served in several areas at LAC including: on the Senior Adults Vanguard Ministry Team, short term missions and overseas missions to Armenia, a Small Group Leader and active in Voyagers Class.
  • Mrs. Catherine Shook (92) passed away on Oct. 15, 2011 at in Alhambra, CA. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Dr. Cleo Shook Dec. 21, 2010. She is survived by son James G. Shook and daughter Cathie Ritchey, eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Catherine was an LAC member since 1987 and member of Mariners Adult Class.
  • Samuel Salazar (70) passed away on Oct. 26, 2011 at home in Pasadena CA. He is survived by his wife Gladys, sons Marco and Benjamin, daughter-in-law LeDonna Charley and grandson, Noah. He was An LAC member since 1991. Samuel served as an LAC Usher and Greeter and was a member of the Discovery II Bible Class.
  • Daniel Bassignana (84) passed away on Oct. 19 at Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale. He is survived by his wife Margie, son Dan Bass, grandson Tim Bassignana, great-grandson Mavin Bassignana and daughter Marlene Lynch. He attended LAC several years.   • Mrs. Norma P. (Norma) Klingensmith (73) passed away on Oct. 19, 2011 at Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale. She is survived by her husband Bill, son and daughter-in-law John and Krys (Fehervari) Klingensmith and son Rob Klingensmith. She was an LAC member since 1994 and an active Disciples Class member. A Garden Memorial Service was held at the Fehervari home, Sat. Oct. 29. Pastor Dave Koser and Larry Harter officiated.   • Robert M. (Bob) Zeimantz (61) passed away suddenly on Oct. 6, 2011 at home in Pasadena CA. He is survived by his wife Christine and daughter Amber. He attended LAC 14 years and was active with the LAC Promise Keepers. A private family memorial service will be officiated by his dear friend Rev. Hilary Clay (Hilary) Hicks.
  • David Lee (86) died October 7, 2011 at Huntington Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his sister Virginia Lee. David was an LAC member since 1975 and enjoyed ushering at the 9 am service. He served in the U.S. Navy. His ashes will be placed in a private ceremony at the V.A. National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
  • Frances Parker died on September 30, 2011 where she went quietly home into the arms of Jesus. Pastor Chuck and Pattie Olson want to thank so many in our church family for the gracious outpouring of love and prayers for Pattie’s mother, Frances Parker. Fran and her late husband, Joseph Parker, served as TEAM missionaries in Japan for nearly 50 years involved in church planting and radio broadcasting. A small family gathering is being planned to celebrate her life. The family respectfully requests that any donations in her memory be made to the Lake Avenue Church Missions Fund.

  • Jerry Imes, Sr. (76) died August 6 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, K.Y.   • Jack Bacon Mount (75) went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2011 surrounded at home by loved ones and family. He is survived by Sheila, his wife of 50 years, son Jeff, daughter Jodi, their spouses, and four grandsons. An LAC member since 1975, he has been active in Small Groups Ministry, Choir and Disciples Class. He touched many with his gentleness and faith in God.
  • Charles [Chuck] Brewer (83) died June 12, 2011 in Pasadena CA. He is survived by son Todd & daughter-in-law Barbara Brewer. An LAC membership since 1974, Chuck served as an Usher several years, an active Mariners Adult Class member, and Men’s Encouragers Breakfast weekly fellowship. Pastor Dave Koser will officiate.

  • Paul Meyer (37) died May 17 from omplications from cystic fibrosis. He is survived by his wife, Rowena, parents, Roy & Helga Meyer & sister, name unknown,at this time. Roy & Helga have been in Covenant Class and Discovery II Class for a year and previously members of the LAC plant in Temple City for over 20 years.
  • Frank J. Clark (89) died April 27 at Monrovia Memorial Hospital, Monrovia CA. He is survived by his wife Wilma, son Dr. Richard Clark [Martha] and three step-children: Donna Finlayson [David], Ronald Howard, Shirley Snelling [Roger] and 3 grand children.   • Dr. Frank R. Goodman (90) passed away on April 17, 2011 at Methodist Hospital, Arcadia CA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, who passed away on Dec. 27, 2009. Dr. Goodman faithfully served as Bible teacher in Covenant Class from 1992 – 2005. He is survived by daughters Carolyn Klaus, Cheri Goodman & son Harvey.
  • Mrs. Mercedes Gribble (91) passed away on April 14 at Villa Gardens Health Center, Pasadena CA. Mercedes was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1991. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Gribble founded the Providence Missions Homes. LAC Members since 1979 and active members of the Voyagers Adult Class.
  • Linda "Lin" M. Sameshima-Rost (59) passed away on Feb. 11 at home in Altadena. She is survived by her husband Myke Rost and her parents Hitoshi and Utako Sameshima. She was in ALPHA and an LAC member for five years. Her Life was celebrated in a service and reception at LAC on Feb. 27 and Pastor Marv Warman officiated.   • Mary Patricia [Patti] Cammack (67) passed away Dec. 21. She is survived by her husband Mike, son Brett Bandy and two grandchildren. An LAC member since 1998, she served as a missionary with U.S. Center for World Mission and was a member of Covenant Adult Class. He is survived by his two sons Asbed and Hagop Bedikian and two granddaughters, Nairee and Anais Bedikian.   • Leland [Dale] Green (72) passed away on Nov. 17, 2010 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. He is survived by his wife Peggy and 3 children: Monica, Nelson and Randy; daughter-in-law, Marjorie and 3 grand children: Tyler, Kevin and Maggie. Dale was an LAC member since 1948; married Peggy Meyer at LAC 9/7/1962. Dale and Peggy were adult advisors to the Senior High School group, helping Youth Pastor Dick Anderson, teaching Sunday School and involved in the high school activities; in the Young Married Class, later known as Pathfinders and then present day Disciples Class.   • Virginia Ann Witt (83) passed away on Oct. 25.   • Mr. Clarence Wells (92) died Oct. 4, 2010. He is predeceased by his dear wife Frances M. Wells, Aug. 4, 2010. He is survived by three daughters Julie, Susan and Linda. As an LAC member since 1954 he served as an usher for several years and was active with the Mariners Adult Class, he enjoyed playing the piano as needed.
  • Rich Landrey (47) died Aug. 29 at home in Nevada. He is survived by his parents Paul & Carol Landrey [Paul taught the Mariners Class] and sister Angela and her husband Miahretu Guta. Rich attended LAC during his high school years.
  • Pauline Salisian (96) passed away on Aug. 22 at Monte Vista Grove in Pasadena. She is pre-deceased by her husband Steve Salisian. Survived by daughter Deanne and husband Bill Spuck; son Harold and wife Tasoula Salisian; Myron and wife Gale Salisian; son Steve and wife Nalan Salisian, granddaughter Lisa and husband Scott Sommers; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was an LAC member for 80 years. Pauline served in the Missionary Society and as a Deaconess for many years and a Mariners Class member. Pauline consistently opened her home to the high school and college groups, many LAC ministries and for LAC Pastor retreats. A private family service was held.
  • Mrs. Karen C. Schmidt (66) died Aug. 20 at home in La Canada Flintridge, CA. She is survived by her husband Wally. Karen attended LAC since 1990s. She was a faithful greeter on the West steps of the Worship Center and at Gateway.
  • Mrs. Carolyn Bohling (75) died August 19.She is survived by her husband, Harry H. ''Bud'' Bohling; son, Harry Edward Bohling; daughter-in-law, Kimberley; and four grandchildren. She was an LAC member since 1987. She was Secretary for Pastor Dave Koser several years ago, and served on his team as Director of Care Ministries. She served with Senior Adult Ministries, Care Ministry and Disabled Ministry and as an active member of King's Couriers Adult Class and as a Choir Deaconess.
  • Diane Schneider Lundstrom (59) passed away on Aug. 15 at Penrose Main Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Kurt Lundstrom; her sisters, Karen Payne, Deborah (and Bruce) Ceasar; and brother Greg (and Lane) Schneider. Diane and Kurt met at LAC in the early 80s in the Cornerstone Adult Class. Memorial services were held in Colorado. Another service will be held Oct 2 in Redlands, CA.   • Jennifer Bloch (39) passed away on Aug. 15 at home in Altadena surrounded by her family. She is survived by her mother, Sharon Velez and 7 brothers and sisters: Jeff, Susan, Sam, Becky, Andrew, Aaron, and Emily. Jen thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two nieces and nephew. She was a Missions Mobilizer, Warehouse Hub Leader, GLO (Global Local Outreach) Member, SVM 2 and participated in Multiple IMPACT Short-Term Missions Trips.
  • Peter John Sawires (39) passed away suddenly in his home in El Cerrito, California on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Peter is survived by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Sawires and his siblings Amani (Steve), Sharif, and Amal, and his beloved lifelong friend and cousin Gloria, his niece and nephew, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Peter was an active member of the LAC High School Ministry in the 1990s
  • Terry Ronald Cannings (66) died Friday, August 13, 2010 at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys CA. He is survived by his wife Judy; his mother, Maisie Cannings of Australia; sister, Robyn Vos and her husband David; son, Paul Cannings and his wife Heidi; daughter, Susan Barton and her husband Andrew; daughter, Kimberly Gomez and her husband Marco; and 5 grandchildren. Terry was an active member of the LAC Sanctuary Choir since 1994.
  • Mrs. Frances M. (Fran) Wells (90) died Aug. 4. She is survived by her husband Clarence Wells and three daughters Julie, Susan and Linda. A reception will immediately follow. Pastor Dave Koser will officiate. Fran has been a member of LAC since 1954. She served as a Deaconess; a member of Morning Break; member of Mariners Adult Class; served on the Monday Morning Flower Team; and used her gift and passion for decorating with the Senior Adult Dinners and Memorial Receptions.
  • Myrtle A. Dornberger (96) of La Grande, Oregon and Altadena, CA died peacefully July 9, 2010. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Olson of Bloomington , Illinois: daughters, Barbara Ball and Katherine Jensen, grandsons; Tom and Carl and three great-grandchildren; nephews and a niece. She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband Carl Wagner Dornberger. Myrtle attended Lake Ave Church since her youth and continuing with her family on thru the 1980's. Myrtle and Carl were members of the Koinonia Class and regularly attended the Sunday services conducted by Dr. Henry Hutchins followed by Dr. Raymond Ortlund. The church blessed the family in many ways.
  • Jean Hedley (91) went home to Jesus Wednesday, June 2. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Evon Hedley and daughters Marna Sharpe and Suzie Zentz and their families. Evon Jean are LAC members since 1963. Jean was an enthusiastic choir member and one of Pastor Ortlund's favorite soloists; she took flowers Monday mornings to members in hospitals, shut-ins others. She Evon served as "resource" people for Pastor Steve Morgan and the Singles Class. Evon Jean have been active in Mariners, Voyagers and Navigators Adult Classes.
  • Joshua David Lennon (7) passed away on May 20 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena CA. He is survived by his mother Tammy Lennon, grandparents Tim and Natalie Lennon, Brian and Emma O'Gara and Richard and Debbie Szabo. Tammy and her parents Tim and Natalie Lennon are LAC Members of 20+ years. Tammy is active with MOPs and Tim and Natalie are active Covenant Adult Class members.

  • Ruth Narramore (87) passed away on May 30 in Pasadena. She is survived by her husband Dr. Clyde and son Dr. Kevin.   • Mrs. Maryly Kay (Maryly) Charles (52) passed away May 7. Maryly Charles, wife of Douglas Charles and mother of Jessica (26) and Jake (23). An LAC member since 1980. She served as nursery coordinator for about 4 years in early 1990s. She also served in Assimilation Ministries and First Impressions as a Greeter and an active member of the Bereans Adult Class. In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate donations offered in honor of Maryly be given to Maryly’s Dream Fulfillment Fund. The purpose of the fund will be to fulfill her desire to provide a beautiful wedding for her daughter, Jessica, who got engaged less than two weeks before Maryly’s passing.   • Donald S. Holt (92) passed away on April 2, 2010 at The Sterling Inn,in Victorville CA. He is survived by his wife, Helen and children: Ann Crowley (Philip), Timothy Holt (Cheryl), Marilyn Torstenbo (Ross) and David Holt (Lynne); 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. e was an LAC Member since 1973; Don ushered at Lake Avenue Church for over 30 years and member of the Mariners Adult Class.
  • Richard Webster (89) passed away on March 31 in Anacortes, WA. He is survived by his wife (Florence Shires Webster), his three sons (Donald, Lawrence, and Samuel), two daughters (Dorothy and Darlene), as well as two sisters (Phyllis and Delcine), eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He served a total of 49 years as a missionary in China and Taiwan. After retirement, in 1995, Richard and Florence continued to work with the community of Chinese churches in Orange County. In 2006, Richard and Florence moved to Anacortes, Washington, to be closer to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   • Irena E. Woolridge (94) passed away on April 21 at Atherton Baptist Homes in Alhambra CA. Irena was an LAC member since 1958 and active with Children's Choirs for decades.
  • Donald Dean Dorr passed away on Dec. 12, 2009. Don was a former member of Lake Avenue Church and a professor at Azusa Pacific University before he retired and before he and his wife Eulene (a member of the LAC Sanctuary Choir) moved to the San Antonio, Texas area. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Louise Dorr, and by his sister, Norma Wildman. He is survived by his wife, Eulene; by his son, Darrell Dorr (Linda); by his daughter, Deborah Mercado (Mark); and by his four grandchildren, Rachel Maynard (Kevin), Melissa McCauley (Zach), Josiah Dorr and Daniel Mercado.   • Sarah R. Spuck (96) passed away on Dec. 23, 2009 visiting family for Christmas in Huntsville, Alabama. She is survived by her Daughters: Ruth Spuck Klein and husband Tom Klein,Suzanne Spuck Gabig and husband Jerry Gabig, Grandchildren: Robert (Emilie), and Mark Schreiber, Nathan, Elizabeth (Jason Goggins),and Nicholas Gabig, Great Granddaughters: Allison and Evelyn Schreiber and Nephew: William Spuck and his wife Deanne. Sarah attended LAC since 1971 and was a faithful member of the Voyagers Class. A family memory service was held at her nephew's home in Arcadia on January 15th where grandson Robert Schreiber officiated.
