Born in Singapore to a believing family, Walter trusted Christ at the age of 12. From an early age his giftedness in creative arts led him to serve Christ as a worship leader and drama director in his local church while he was still a student. A passion for justice and truth led him to law school after which he worked as a corporate litigator in a high profile law firm in Singapore.
During this season as an attorney he met his lovely wife, Christine. Together they sensed a clear call from the Lord to prepare for and invest their lives in building up the church. This call brought them to the United States as a place to learn and to serve. Married in 2005, they moved to Texas and Walter eventually completed his graduate theological studies at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, CA.
At Cottonwood Church in Los Alamitos and as a pastor at The Rock in Anaheim, Walter has demonstrated great skill in developing ministries that help equip God's people to do the work of the ministry. He created and implemented internship programs and a church-based Bible college that have significant impacts today.
Walter's love for Christ, his unique cultural background, his strong gifts in equipping God's people, and his engaging pastoral heart make him a great addition to our existing team of Adult Ministries Pastors. During this year long search process God has led us to restructure how we serve our adults at Lake, moving from a Seasons-of-Life structure to more of a "Family Practice" model. Working alongside Pastors John Secrest and Bill Mead, Walter is a great complement and will make significant contributions to this team concept.
