Lake Avenue Church is seeking applicants for our Pastor of Seniors and Care Ministries position. This serves as an overview of the Pastor of Seniors and Care Ministries position and describes the unique candidate we hope to find. This is not a formal job description.
Profile of the Pastor of Seniors and Care Ministries:
The Pastor of Seniors and Care Ministries is responsible for leading ministry for, with and by our senior adults (age 55+). They will design, implement and direct programming for the ministry that will encourage personal Christian discipleship, foster a sense of belonging to one another and the wider church, and encourage leadership and service throughout the church. They will also provide leadership for our care ministries for those experiencing illness, loss or death of a loved one. The Pastor of Seniors and Care Ministries will partner with the rest of the Adult Ministry team in order to provide support and leadership to all areas of Adult Ministries.
Lake Avenue Church is looking for a candidate who is spiritually passionate, is experienced with and values diversity, is relational, honest and vulnerable, leads well, and builds solid volunteer teams. We are looking for someone to lead with a commitment to our community and our ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional ministry experience. With our diversity, it is critical that our Pastor relates well to diverse groups socio-economically, culturally and politically. It is essential that our Pastor has a passion for ministry to adults age 55 and older. Experience in the ministry of compassion to those struggling with acute, chronic, and terminal illnesses and familiarity with hospital settings is important. Lastly, our senior adult and care ministries are ready for new energy and vision, and will be served well with a person with initiative and creativity.
Important to this position are the following:
- The Pastor is part of a team, reporting to the Associate Pastor of Adult Ministries, and will need to collaborate with several other Adult ministries, including small group ministry, men’s and women’s ministry, prayer ministry, connecting ministry and more.
- The Pastor also will collaborate with individuals from the worship, family and outreach departments.
- The Pastor functions as part of the pastoral team of the larger church.
Lake Ave Church is in the midst of a Senior Pastor transition. We are currently looking for a new Senior leader and are excited about the possibilities of the coming season. This presents both opportunities and challenges, however the larger church has great strength in its paid and volunteer staff.

Nursery Caregiver
Nursery Caregiver
Lake Avenue Church is currently seeking part-time Nursery Caregivers in our Early Childhood Ministries. This is a ministry position providing care and leadership for the nursery program during worship services and special events. At this time, our caregiver team works on an as needed basis, predominantly on the weekends, with some hours during weekdays, some holidays and special ministry events.
Individuals best suited for this position will possess:
- A deep love for early childhood aged children and a heart for working in our nurseries.
- Exemplary life of wholehearted devotion to Jesus Christ.
- Ability to create and maintain a safe environment for children.
- Ability to promote harmonious working relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
- Knowledge of and experience in early childhood development (birth-5 years) is a plus.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, playing with children, praying with them, facilitating snack time, and general interaction with toddlers and parents.
This position is part-time, non-exempt, and does not include benefits.

Lead Teacher
Lead Teacher
Lake Avenue Church is currently seeking full-time (30 hours per week) Lead Teacher in our Family Ministries, Imago Dei Preschool. The lead teacher of LAC Preschool is responsible for leading their classroom and shepherding the appropriate learning experience for preschool aged children. They shall lead by example and in concert with the LAC Preschool Keystones of: Imago Dei, Community based and Mission minded, Church/School Integration.
The lead teacher supports the greater vision of LAC by providing leadership to their classroom and provide an environment where each child can develop his or her physical, emotional, mental, and social capabilities to his or her full potential, through a creative play curriculum in developmentally appropriate ways. It is also significant that the Preschool provides experiences that stimulate the child’s interest in God’s world. The teacher leads the classroom, and carries out the Preschool’s mission while working collaboratively with the Preschool Director, other school staff, and children’s families. The Lead Teacher reports to the Preschool Director. Our teaching team works 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

- Have a minimum of 1 year working with children in a professional capacity.
- Meet the minimum state standards for child care worker. (Including but not limited to: Criminal background check, free from infectious disease, proper immunizations, First Aid and CPR certification)
- Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills in order to effectively communicate with children, families, staff.
- Ability to cultivate healthy working relationships with preschool director, staff, and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares monthly lesson plans.
- Attends staff meetings and collaborates ideas for the month.
- Create environments in classroom to develop children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good condition, used and maintain properly.
- Communicates appropriate information to parents either in person, a phone call, or email.
- Develops, plans, and prepares teacher assist and materials for classroom activities of the day.
- Prepares and implements classroom lesson plans, program, and schedule.
- Maintains family information board and other classroom bulletin boards.
- Responsible for daily planning, management and supervision of the classroom and children.
- Ensures that activities align with our school and church mission.
Education:
- 12 ECE/CD units (incl. core)
